Your Choice™ is based on the concept that we all have choices but sometimes we don’t make the best choices for ourselves and those we love. This is because of negative beliefs stored in our subconscious mind that interfere with our decision-making process and cause us to sabotage our success.
These beliefs were often created in childhood in response to a difficult, traumatic or confusing situation where we didn’t have the resources or support to make proper sense of what is happening. The mind then seeks certainty by creating a negative belief about us. Unfortunately, these beliefs then effect the choices we make and the results we have.
When we set a goal that contradicts a hidden negative belief, we will sabotage the outcome because we believe that we:
• Don’t deserve to gain the goal
• Won’t be loved if we gain the goal or
• It is not safe to gain the goal
The hidden negative belief impacts our choices, our behaviour and our results making it less easy to achieve the success, love and happiness we yearn for.
Fortunately, through Pip McKay’s 22 years of pioneering unique personal development tools, we now know that there are only three categories of beliefs and that we can clear these to more easily gain what we want.
These beliefs are: • Unworthy • Unlovable • Unsafe
It is therefore, important to clear negative beliefs developed because of past events in order to change behavioural patterns in the present.
When a difficult event in childhood is not resolved, a certain part of a person’s psyche remains at that age. When a current event reminds them of the past, they find themselves behaving like they did when they were a child and they feel disempowered and unresourceful. This only reinforces negative beliefs about themselves and the vicious cycle becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
A person does not need to have experienced trauma to be negatively affected by events in the past. The psyche works in the same way for unresolved situations and influences which are not traumatic but were simply emotionally difficult or confusing. This can be caused by criticism, unexpected situations or reactions and even through a child’s misunderstanding of a comment or event.
